What each component is
CJC-1295 without DAC
A modified fragment of growth hormone-releasing hormone. Where a full GHRH analogue reproduces the whole releasing hormone, this one reproduces the fragment that carries the receptor-binding activity — residues 1 to 29, which is why the compound is also written mod GRF (1-29). It acts at the GHRH receptor on the pituitary, the same receptor the body’s own releasing hormone acts on.
Teichman and colleagues characterised CJC-1295 in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism in 2006 (PMID 16352683) as a long-acting analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone, and examined growth hormone and IGF-I secretion in healthy adults.
The “without DAC” part is a real distinction, not a suffix. DAC stands for Drug Affinity Complex, a modification that binds the peptide to albumin in the bloodstream and extends how long it circulates. The version supplied here does not carry it. A paper on one is not automatically a paper on the other, and this is the most common source of confusion in the secondary writing on this compound.
Ipamorelin
A five-amino-acid peptide, and a different class of molecule entirely. It does not act at the GHRH receptor. It acts at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor — a separate receptor, reached by a separate signal, on the same pituitary cells.
Raun and colleagues characterised it in the European Journal of Endocrinology in 1998 (PMID 9849822) as a selective growth hormone secretagogue.
The distinction that makes the pair worth understanding
An analogue is a structural variant of a natural molecule that acts where the natural molecule acts. A secretagogue prompts a gland to release a hormone it already makes, through its own signalling route.
CJC-1295 without DAC is an analogue at the GHRH receptor. Ipamorelin is a secretagogue at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor. Two independent entry points into one signalling axis — which is the structural observation, and the only one this guide makes about the pair.

CJC-1295: does the pulse survive continuous stimulation, 2006
Ionescu and Frohman, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (PMID 17018654). Examined whether pulsatile growth hormone secretion persists during continuous stimulation by CJC-1295.
This is the most interesting question in the set and it is worth spelling out why. The pituitary does not release growth hormone in a steady stream; it releases it in pulses, and the pulse pattern is itself part of the signal. A compound that stimulates the receptor continuously raises an obvious question about whether that pattern survives. This paper asked it directly, which is a more informative thing to cite than any summary statement about the compound.
Ipamorelin: selectivity, 1998
Raun and colleagues, European Journal of Endocrinology (PMID 9849822). Characterised ipamorelin as a selective growth hormone secretagogue. Selectivity is the property the paper is about: whether the compound prompts growth hormone release without engaging the other pituitary axes that earlier secretagogues also affected.
